Non-profit Partnerships

The City of Pensacola Housing Department enjoys a close working relationship with Escambia County/Neighborhood Enterprise Foundations, Inc. (NEFI), as well as local non-profit partners, AMR, Inc. and Community Equity Investments, Inc. (CEII), and the local housing agency, the Area Housing Commission, to provide affordable housing and home ownership opportunities for citizens of Pensacola and Escambia County.

The NEFI administers the Escambia County's grant programs, the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, the HOME Investment Partnerships Act (HOME) and the Emergency Shelter Grants Program. The City of Pensacola and NEFI jointly staff the Escambia Pensacola Local Housing Partnership, which consists of representation from all sectors of the community having any significant involvement in the provisions of affordable rental or homeowner occupied housing.

The City of Pensacola is a member of the Escambia HOME Investment Partnership Program Consortium. The HOME Consortium includes Escambia County, the City of Pensacola, Santa Rosa County and the City of Milton. Escambia County is designated as the lead agency for the Escambia HOME Consortium. The HOME funding is available to a Consortium of local governments which have contiguous boundaries in order to enhance coordination and cooperative efforts in the housing arena. Over the past three years, the Consortium arrangement has proven to be an effective mechanism for affordable housing related planning, coordination and utilization of HOME resources.

AMR, Inc. and CEII, two local Community Housing Development Organizations, continue to support the affordable housing market with newly constructed, affordable housing units, as well as the local Habitat for Humanity.
