L. Derrik Owens, P.E. is the City Engineer. Derrik is a Milton/Pensacola area native and graduated from Milton High School and Pensacola Junior College. He earned a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from Florida State University and a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of South Florida. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in both Florida and Alabama.

He joined the Engineering Department in August of 2000 after spending nearly ten years in private consulting and was appointed to the position of City Engineer in October 2003. He enjoys the outdoors and being involved with charitable organizations that benefit the community.
